Account Ledger: Transfer money between accounts/budgets

There are a few different options for transferring money between account ledgers and account budgets. You can transfer money between account ledgers and you can transfer money between budget categories in the same account ledger.

What would you like to do?

  • Transfer money between account ledgers
  • Transfer money between categories in the same account ledger
  • Delete a transfer transaction

Transfer money between account ledgers

  1. On the Main Sections menu, click Finances, click Account ledgers, and then click Transfer.
  2. Under Transfer From, select the account you are moving money out of.
  3. Under Transfer To, select the account you are moving money into.
  4. If you are transferring from a budget category, under Transfer From, select the category.
  5. If you are transferring into a budget category, under Transfer To, select the category.
NOTE: You can transfer from a budget category in one account ledger to any or no category in another account ledger.
  1. The Transfer Date defaults to today's date. If you want to change it, click the date and select a new date.
  2. For Amount to Transfer, type the dollar amount.
  3. For Notes, type an explanation for the transfer and then click Transfer Money.
NOTE: The note you enter is included in the transaction description in the account ledger.

To view the transfer, on the Main Sections menu, click Account Ledgers, select your account ledger, and then click the Transactions tab.


Transfer money between categories in the same account ledger

  1. On the Main Sections menu, click Finances, click Account ledgers, and then click Transfer.
  2. Under Transfer From, select the account you are moving money out of.
  3. Under Transfer To, select the same account.
  4. Under Transfer From, select the category you are moving money out of.
  5. Under Transfer To, select the category you are moving money into.
NOTE: Transfers between expense budget categories show as reversed in your detail report.
  1. The Transfer Date defaults to today's date. If you want to change it, click the date and select a new date.
  2. For Amount to Transfer, type the dollar amount.
  3. For Notes, type an explanation for the transfer and then click Transfer Money.

To view the transfer, on the Main Sections menu, click Account Ledgers, select your account ledger, and then click the Transactions tab.


Delete a transfer transaction

  IMPORTANT: You must delete both the deposit and withdrawal piece of a transfer transaction.
  1. On the Main Sections menu, click Finances, and then click Account Ledgers.
  2. Select your account ledger from the Select Account list.
  3. Click the Transactions tab.
  4. Locate the transfer transaction. If there are many transactions, use the Search or Advanced Search feature.
TIP: Transfer transactions have the word  Transfer in the Description field, type  Transfer in the Search field to quickly see all your transfers.

  2. On the Confirm Delete page, type the Reason for Deletion and click Mark for Deletion. This is a required field.
  3. Locate the other piece of your transfer transaction and delete that transaction too.

The Search feature provides a quick and simple way to find transactions. Start typing any portion of your transaction into the Search field and Charms uses that information to narrow down the summary results.

Use the Advanced Search feature to filter your transactions by specific fields. With advanced searches you can be very specific about the transactions you want to see. For example, all debit transactions that are greater than $1000 or, all transactions between a date range. Advanced search provides many options for filtering and finding your transactions.
